Use the adjuster to take up the surplus slack so that the valve will completely close and has the 2mm of travel. Tighten the Decompressor End so that it grasps the cable.Ĭounter rotate the throttle and ensure that the decompressor valve has at least 2mm of travel at the valve. While trying to keep up all the slack thread the cable through the Decompressor Adjuster and into the body of the handgrip. Removing the slack sufficiently may need the assistance of a friend. Then hook the cable through the shephards hook make sure the cable cover end is in the hook and take up the slack. Install the new cable by slipping the T end under the retainer. Oil the new cable before threading it back into the cover. With the cable removed from the cover cut the cover to the same length as the original.Ĭut the new cable to the same length as the original cable. The cable cover end in the shephards hook is indexed and you need to transfer this to the new cable if it does not have the same indexed end. Loosen the Decompressor Adjuster lock nut and thread the adjuster all the way in.ĭisconnect the old cable from the decompressor on the engine.īack the cable cover up a bit and unhook it from the shephards hook. Genuine high quality Venhill 'Featherlight' cable including marine grade stainless steel inner wire and PFTE (Teflon) liner for super low friction smooth operation. Suitable for use with most levers including Domino and Tomaselli. Just makes it easier then trying to fiddle around upside down. Universal cable as used in our decompressor kits. My suggestion to change the cable would start with loosening the Mounting Screw and rotating the entire hand grip assembly so the tiny hardware is facing up. You need a large flat screwdriver for the Mounting Screw. You need a 6mm open end wrench for the Decompressor End You need a 8mm open end wrench for the lock nut on the Decompressor Adjuster This is underneath the handgrip where all the attachine hardware is hiding. You need to keep in mind that the cable is held still inside the handgrip body and the cable cover is actually moved by the Decompressor Adjuster when the grip is counter rotated. Well after reading the instruction manuals which I posted, it seems to be completely unclear so I went into the barn and took a couple of pictures.
